Edward Elgar
Dream of Gerontius
Below are rehearsal files for those parts which are sung by choir. Please note that there are a lot of divisions in voice parts. Elgar writes for a SATB Semi-Chorus for much of the work and the main Chorus also divides into Firsts and Seconds in all voices at some points. Semi-Chorus Singers will also need to use the relevant Chorus files.
As requested at the end of each video, if you are aware of any significant errors PLEASE contact John so that he can make necessary corrections.
As we will not know who is singing in the semichorus, it is best to familiarise yourself with the main chorus parts.
A special note to sopranos. Don’t panic at the sight of Third Soprano parts: only for short periods do the sopranos divide into three parts and it may be that the third part will be taken by some of the altos or the semichorus.
